A select crowd gathered to learn the skills that make for powerful personal networking…and crammed into a few short hours!…from Nanette DeWester of Parkhurst Communications and communications expert Deena Baikowitz. Parkhurst’s clients range from Fortune 500 Senior Executives to non-profit support staff in companies such as Amgen, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Google, Barclays Capital, Bank of America, Citigroup, The Federal Reserve, Campbells, Pearson Education, and UNICEF.
The workshop included both theory and exercises to help hone participant’s abilities to make a good first impression with a strong introduction, make conversation, do an elevator pitch and follow up and manage contacts.

At the evening event, after the workshop, Ryan Slack started things off by introducing a series of speakers, who talked briefly about their areas of expertise. These included: Ben Kursman, attorney, Herrick, Feinstein, who talked about understanding and controlling sublease risks; Robert Roth, President/Founder, Green Envy Development Group, who briefly discussed diversifying your areas of specialization in a down market; Dexter Newman, ACE Building Consulting, who gave an overview on navigating the Department of Buildings; Zach Rose, CEO & Teacher, LEEDTeacher, who fave advice on how to improve your marketability by going green; Tricia Martin, Partner, WE design, who reviewed the costs and benefits of green and high-albedo roofs; and Darius Askaripour, CEO, Access Granted, who talked about opportunities in distressed property.

It was a great event! And the speakers provided an excellent informational framework to kick off the evening’s networking.
I’m sure a lot of hard work went into planning this so thank you for all your efforts and the invite.
